In this special Speyside episode, Dougie meets the man determined to save the famous Spey salmon, and Shahbaz sets out to climb Ben Rinnes, the area’s most prominent mountain.
Dougie and the team are in Speyside for a special episode. An area dominated by the River Spey, Speyside is one of the country’s most productive whisky regions as well as a world-famous salmon fishing destination.
Rosie meets a woman who works along the river as a gillie and is keen to pass on her passion for fly fishing to as many women as possible. Dougie visits the Glenrinnes Estate to find out how the farm is run on an organic system. With more than 50 distilleries in Speyside, Anne visits a family firm supplying whisky barrels to producers.
Further upstream, Dougie meets the man who has spent his working life on the Spey. With climate change now having an impact, Dougie finds out about the future of the river. And Shahbaz sets out to climb Ben Rinnes, Speyside’s highest peak. He is joined by members of a local group who maintain the paths of this increasingly popular hill.
