On today’s show, novelist and screenwriter Alex Garland shares his 'First, Last and Everything' - that’s the first record he owned, the most recent one he's enjoyed and the record that means β€˜everything’ to him.

Alex Garland became known in the late 90’s with his novel β€˜The Beach’, which was adapted into a film in 2000 starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Tilda Swinton, and Robert Carlisle. He has continued to worked alongside Danny Boyle on various film projects, including writing the post-apocalyptic horror film β€˜28 Days Later’, starring Cillian Murphy. In 2014 he wrote and directed his first film, the sci-fi thriller 'Ex-Machina'. Alex talks about his new film β€˜Civil War’ and shares his musical enthusiasms.
