The Revd Kate Bottley chats to Channel 4 News Presenter Cathy Newman and Izzy Judd explains how music can help children and parents feel soothed and present.

鈥淢usic has been part of my life since forever鈥� 鈥� the words of Izzy Judd 鈥� 鈥渁nd growing up, it was the way my family communicated through celebration and sadness. A language that was easier to share than words sometimes 鈥� music is the way I feel most connected to myself and others.鈥�
Since motherhood, performing music had been missing from Izzy鈥檚 life, and after the birth of her third child, she found herself reaching for her violin to soothe him in fractious moments. She quickly realised that the music was helping them both to regulate and feel more calm. Now, with an EP called Moments, Izzy hopes that her arrangements of recognisable melodies will provide parents and children with much needed respite from the frenetic modern world - to feel soothed and present. Izzy is married to Harry Judd, the drummer in McFly.
She also chats to Channel 4 News presenter and award winning journalist Cathy Newman ahead of her appearance at the Cambridge Literary Festival in April. Cathy's latest book LADDER considers some of the world's most influential women who have achieved extraordinary accomplishments in their fields from film makers to religious leaders, broadcasters and more.
