Gap Finders - David Lorenz
Todayβs guest started a business to 'upcycle' petrol and diesel cars, and make them fully electric. He did this to vintage luxury cars, and has now moved on to commercial trucks.
David Lorenz is the CEO and founder of Lunaz, a company that takes classic luxury cars, and βupcyclesβ them with new technology to make them fully electric. They have also expanded and applied this method of βupcyclingβ to specialised commercial vehicles, focusing on electrifying whole fleets.
The company, based in the home of the F1 British Grand Prix in Silverstone, announced a large scale partnership with Biffa, the waste management service, to electrify their fleet of bin lorries last year. Theyβve also attracted some big name investors, such as David Beckham, and comedian Jack Whitehall.
But David Lorenz isnβt from an automotive background β he previously spent thirteen years in hospitality. He tells us where the idea for this company came from, how he found the right people to help him grow it, and what he plans on doing next.
