Tha sinn a’ leantainn pà rantan òga gus faighinn a-mach dè dìreach a tha an cois a bhith nad phà rant òg san latha an-diugh. Trusadh follows young parents to discover what it means to be a young parent.
Aig naoi bliadhna deug, fhuair Eilidh Lamb, agus a cèile Calum, fios gun robh pà iste gu bhith aca. Sa phrògram seo, tha sinn a’ leantainn na pà rantan òga seo ’s iad a’ dèiligeadh ris an atharrachadh mòr nam beatha agus ag ionnsachadh dè dìreach a tha an cois a bhith nad phà rant òg san latha an-diugh.
Le na h-à ireamhan de phà rantan òga a-nis nas ìsle na tha iad air a bhith a-riamh roimhe, bheir am prògram seo sealladh pearsanta air slighe Eilidh is Calum, bhon leatromachd fhèin, suas chun an latha an-diugh ’s iad nan teaghlach le pà iste ùr. Gheibh sinn eòlas air teaghlach Eilidh is sinn a’ cèilidh air a mà thair, Curstaidh, agus a h-athair is a bhean, Will agus Ali. Cluinnidh sinn mar a chuala iad an-toiseach gun robh iad gu bhith nan sean-phà rantan aig aois glè òg, na teagamhan a bh’ aca mun chùis agus an dòchas a th’ aca airson an à m ri teachd. Ann an Dùn Èideann, thèid Eilidh gu Ionad Òigridh Citadel far am faigh i fios mun seòrsa taic a th’ ann dha pà rantan òg sa bhaile.
A bharrachd air Eilidh is Calum, coinnichidh sinn ri Daibhidh Moireasdan à Eilean Leòdhais gus cluinntinn an sgeulachd iongantach aige. Bha Daibhidh air a bhreith ann an Glaschu ann an ospadal airson mà thraichean neo-phòsta ach bha e na bhalach òg mus d’ fhuair e a-mach gur e am boireannach a bha e a’ faicinn mar phiuthar, a mhà thair. Mar Eilidh, bha mà thair Dhaibhidh naoi bliadhna deug nuair a dh’ ionnsaich i gun robh pà iste gu bhith aice ach bha an t-slighe aice-se gu math nas dorra. Le iomadh tionndadh annasach, cluinnidh sinn mun rathad fhada bh’ aig Daibhidh ri siubhail gus tuigse fhaighinn air òige agus gus lorg fhaighinn air an athair a chaill e.
At 19 years old, Eilidh Lamb, along with her partner Calum, found out they were having a baby. We follow the journey as they deal with this seismic shift in their lives to discover what it means to be a young parent today.
With statistics showing that young parenthood numbers are the lowest they have ever been, this programme gives a personal insight into Eilidh and Calum’s experiences, from the pregnancy itself, to the present day as a new family. We get to know Eilidh’s family as we meet her mother, Kirsty, and father and stepmother, Will and Ali. We hear about how they first felt about being grandparents at a young age, their concerns for the young couple and their hopes for the future. In Edinburgh, Eilidh takes a look around the long-running Citadel Youth Centre to find out about the support they offer for young parents in the city.
We also meet David Morrison from the Isle of Lewis to hear his incredible story. David was born in Glasgow in a hospital for unmarried mothers, but he was a young lad before he learned that the woman he believed was his sister was, in fact, his mother. Like Eilidh, David’s mother was 19 when she became pregnant but her journey was far more challenging.
