Now more sites from other regions are to be added in other council areas. 50 years ago, in September 1974, 120 teenage girls arrived at Erskine House in Belfast City Hospital to begin their training as nurses. We hear from Margaret McAllister who is organising a reunion and Hugh McShane tells the story of Sugar Island in Newry, once the heart of Northern Ireland’s sugar trade with the West Indies, and later a hub of commerce.
