50 Years Of The Scottish Chamber Orchestra

Celebrating Scotland’s classical world, Jamie MacDougall highlights the work of the Â鶹ԼÅÄ Scottish Symphony Orchestra in concert and other Scottish artists and ensembles.

We join the Scottish Chamber Orchestra’s 50th anniversary celebrations with live performance recordings of Mozart’s playful Concerto in E-flat for two pianos and Haydn’s ‘Surprise’ Symphony. Jamie points towards Valentine’s Day with romantic music, as cellist Natalie Clein joins the Â鶹ԼÅÄ Scottish Symphony Orchestra and conductor Andrew Manze for one of Saint Saens' best-known and loved cello concertos. Ahead of the UK premiere of Jonathan Dove’s latest opera Marx in London by Scottish Opera, we hear the Scottish Opera Orchestra in music by Franz Lehar and there’s concert news for St Andrews as clarinettist Maximiliano Martin joins friends for a recital of chamber music for Winds.
