Episode 10
A look at the online weight loss drugs that could kill you. Are allergy nasal sprays addictive, and can you die of a broken heart? Plus, the dangers of tattoo numbing cream.
New figures reveal that 42 million of us in the UK suffer from allergies, and topping that chart is hay fever. There are dozens of hay fever products available over the counter without prescription which offer a quick fix. We meet Connor, a young man who became addicted to nasal sprays, with terrible consequences. Andrew Swift, an ENT specialist, advises on what to do if your nose is badly blocked repeatedly.
Weight loss jabs like Ozempic are becoming so popular that people who need the drugs for serious medical conditions like diabetes cannot get hold of them. This has led to the growth of a massive online business, with illegal fakes becoming more common. Regulatory body the MHRA has a stark warning for anyone buying online: these dodgy jabs are so dangerous, they could kill you.
Can you really die of a broken heart? Dr Xand explains the rare condition which can result in people dying from grief or other stress.
We explore the fake tattoo numbing cream that causes severe burns. Abbie, 27, from Margate, bought some cream to numb the pain from her latest tattoo but ended up in hospital with severe burns. She was unaware the creams she used are all illegal to sell in the UK.
Can you drink too much water? We look into the trend of the 30-gallon challenge, where you drink a gallon of water a day for 30 days. Is it a good, or even safe, thing to do? Dr Xand has the answer.
