A refreshing classical Sunday mix

Sarah Walker chooses three hours of attractive and uplifting music to complement your morning, whether you’re brewing a pot of tea or solving the Sunday crossword.

Sarah Walker chooses three hours of attractive and uplifting music to complement your morning.

Today the Mozart Piano Quintet trace the swirling melodic lines of composer Mel Bonis, while the Avalon Wind Quintet bring the cheeky angularity of Giuseppe Cambini to life. Sarah also shines a light on the harp, with cyclic minimalism from Nico Muhly performed by Lavinia Meijer, and a lilting folk tune from Catriona McKay.

There’ll also be an exuberant Handel anthem, bold choral harmonies from Libby Larsen, and vocal lines that melt into each other in a collaboration between Eric Whitacre and Voces8.

Plus, Haydn sweeps us onto the dance floor...
