Tunes, chat and Thurston Moore
Mark and Stuart present a feast of top tunes and Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore shares his ‘First, Last and Everything’.
Mark Radcliffe and Stuart Maconie present a feast of music and chat for weekend breakfast.
Today guitarist, singer and songwriter Thurston Moore shares his 'First, Last and Everything' - that’s the first record he owned, the most recent one he enjoyed and the record that means ‘everything’ to him. He also chats about his latest project... a memoir.
Thurston is a founding member of influential New York rock band Sonic Youth. Moving from Connecticut to Manhattan in 1978, he co-founded the band with Kim Gordon and Lee Ranaldo in 1981. Sonic Youth went on to have an internationally successful thirty year career. Their album ‘Daydream Nation’ was added to the Library of Congress’ National Recording Registry in 2006. As well as sharing his musical passions, Thurston talks to Mark and Stuart about the band, his career and his life in music.
Also on the show... long-running feature ‘The Chain’, which gives listeners the chance to pick a track that links in some way to the last. The list now contains over 8000 songs.
With a selection of music old and new to get the weekend started.
