The best folk and acoustic music from Britain and beyond.
This week, US songwriter Cat Power AKA Chan Marshall talks about covering a whole Bob Dylan concert.
Bob Dylan’s gig at the Manchester Free Trade Hall in 1966 is the stuff of folk and rock legend. He played an acoustic set before going electric in the second half, leading somebody in the audience to infamously shout "Judas!" It is a classic pop-culture moment.
The '66 show became known - and is still known - as the 'Royal Albert Hall concert' because early bootlegs were mislabelled.
In 2022, the singer Cat Power did something unusual: she covered the whole classic concert, live, this time in the Royal Albert Hall itself. That’s now been released as an album, Cat Power Sings Dylan, and she joins Mark to talk about it.
