Derry film-maker's new documentary on the Mother and Baby homes scandal

Derry film-maker Margo Harkin’s documentary Stolen, local writer Peter McAuley on being shortlisted for RTE’s short story competition, and Mark meets the North West Carnival.

Acclaimed Derry film maker Margo Harkin’s documentary 'Stolen' will be released in cinemas on Friday 3rd November. Today Mark and Margo discuss her documentary on a scandal that sparked a government inquiry and made global news, the mother and baby homes in Ireland. Local writer Peter McAuley is one of ten writers shortlisted for the prestigious RTE short story competition in honour of Francis Mac Manus. The story is about a Father and Son’s frantic search for their greyhound on the Craigavon Bridge. Peter comes in to talk with Mark ahead of heading to Dublin tomorrow for the ceremony. As the biggest Halloween festival in Europe approaches Mark heads to Creggan to speak with Jim Collins and his small team at the North West Carnival who conceive and create the entire parade.
