Tupac Amaru Shakur was born in New York City before moving to California as a teenager. He became a dancer and roadie before his obvious and natural talent led to him releasing his own material, receiving his first Grammy nominations and taking up acclaimed acting roles in the films Juice and Poetic Justice. His Death Row Records debut album All Eyez on Me cemented his place in hip-hop history.
The music world mourned his death after his murder in 1996, but his music lives on, and he is, to this day, still one of the most talked about rappers of all time.
