DJ, producer and songwriter Calvin Harris chooses his Tracks of My Years all this week.
Calvin grew up in Dumfries in Scotland, initially working in a fish processing factory and stocking shelves in supermarkets to save up and buy DJ gear. He moved to London to pursue a career in music but a lack of job opportunities led to him returning to Dumfries, where he created his first album, I Created Disco, in his bedroom.
Uploading his music to MySpace, Calvin had hits with The Girls and Acceptable in the 80s, which led to a record deal with Columbia in 2006. Since then, Calvin has released six albums, had 11 UK number ones and won two Brit awards, a Grammy and an Ivor Novello. He has performed all over the world, and this summer had a residency at Ibiza's UshuaΓ―a nightclub. Calvinβs new single, Desire, is out now. It's his third collaboration with Sam Smith and follows on from the success of Promises, which spent six weeks at number one, and Iβm Not Here To Make Friends.
Calvinβs first two choices this week come from Jamiroquai and Nirvana.
There'll also be more audio nuggets as we dive in to the ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ Archive in Vernon's Vault, plus the mid-morning music quiz Ten to the Top and a brand new Record and Album of the Week.
