Irene and Richard bought their three-bedroom home in Croydon 19 years ago, but as the family grew, the house began to feel too small for them. With three teenagers in the house, Ella, Emily, and Lewis are all fighting for space. Emily and Ella share a tiny box room, where the only space for Ella鈥檚 piano is tucked under the bunk bed.

Richard's biggest bugbear is being made to wait for hours to use the only bathroom in the house, whilst Irene is desperate for more space but is unwilling to get rid of her industrial-sized tumble dryer.

Tackling the challenge of redesigning this jam-packed house on a modest budget are top architects Lizzie Fraher and Laura Jane Clark. After investigating the problems, Laura is going all out to find a way to give the girls their own space, while Lizzie is determined to give the whole family extra living space downstairs.
