Pacific salmon in Atlantic Waters and Ballougry Primary School gets another year open

Pacific salmon in Atlantic Waters and Ballougry Primary School gets another year open.

Pacific Salmon. You guessed, they should be in the Pacific, but in recent years they have been found in our waters. So how on earth do Pacific pink salmon ends up in Atlantic Waters and indeed right up into our fresh water and rivers? With that and all the detail on how we might help our native Atlantic salmon, Mark is at the Loughs Agency in Prehen where Dr Sarah McLean has been monitoring the Pacific incomers for some time now
Two incredible young adults Lauren Monaghan and Ronnie Gomersall have gone through major health and personal struggles, throw a global pandemic into the mix, and yet they have just graduated from Ulster University. More on their story including how American rock band Fall Out Boy brought Lauren out of a coma.
After the News at One, Twenty Minutes with Mark Patterson looks at Ballougry Primary School. Yesterday marked the end of an 8 week pre-publication consultation on a proposal to discontinue the School. The Department of Education has told this programme due to the significant correspondence during the consultation period they are unable to make a decision on the discontinuance of Ballougry Primary School in this academic year. So Ballougry Primary School will operate as normal in the 23/24 academic year. Principal Damian O'Kane updates Mark and our Friday specialist is award winning gardener Gareth Austin who is delighted with the rain, but not the slugs.
