Rufus Wainwright's Folkocracy
Folk, roots and acoustic music. Guest Rufus Wainwright talks about his new duet album Folkocracy.
The best folk and acoustic music from Britain and beyond.
This week, Rufus Wainwright talks about his new album Folkocracy.
Despite his folk heritage through parents Kate McGarrigle and Loudon Wainwright III, songwriter Rufus' own acclaimed career has largely ploughed a different furrow. But on Folkocracy, he sings his favourite folk and roots songs, including Down in the Willows Garden and Arthur McBride, as well as songs written by Peggy Seeger and Neil Young.
Rufus sings many of these songs as duets, in the company of John Legend, Chaka Khan, Brandi Carlile, David Byrne, Nicole Scherzinger and more. Sister Martha Wainwright and half-sister Lucy Wainwright Roche also appear.
