Catrin Nye speaks to three inspiring people who spend their time thinking about the food people eat. We hear the talks they deliver and then interview them about their central idea.
Catrin Nye presents the latest series of The Idea - the programme that offers food for the mind and inspiration for the soul. And ironically the focus this time is on food.
Three speakers who spend their lives thinking about what we eat share their thoughts. There’s lots to enjoy they say, but a lot to worry about too.
Philip Lymbery is arguing for radical change in our approach to farming because if we carry on as we are with industrial-scale factory methods, we have only 60 harvests left before the soil dies.
Robbie Davison runs a not-for-profit food production company which provides meals for care homes, schools and people on low incomes. He says the massive increase in ultra-processed food consumption is causing a major public health crisis. He says we need to change our food supply chain so everyone can afford good food and knows how to cook it.
Welsh chef Angela Gray runs a cookery school where she demystifies good cooking and makes it feel easy and fun. She wants to take the snobbery out of fine food, and get us all eating more local produce.
The Idea brings us some of the best talks with a Welsh connection, and interviews with the speakers in depth about their big idea.
The Idea is a Bengo Media production for Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Wales
