Singer-songwriter, Dean Friedman is this week’s Vinyl Collective guest selector and shares a classic record from his collection. Grant counts down the Top 10 albums this week in 1989 featuring the Scottish act that knocked Madonna off number 1.

A tribute to The Funky Drummer, Clyde Stubblefield, who was born 80 years ago. As well as a member of James Brown’s band he is one of the most sampled musicians in history and can be heard on records by Public Enemy, George Michael and Ed Sheeran. Plus other significant anniversaries for Aztec Camera, David Bowie, Eve Graham from the New Seekers and Ruth Madoc. And tributes to Ryuichi Sakamoto and Scottish musician Ian Bairnson.
