Anna Mae Bullock talks to Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ presenters about becoming Tina Turner, overcoming adversity and enjoying a renaissance which began here, to take our airwaves and stages by storm.

In tribute to Tina Turner who has sadly passed away, another chance to hear Tina Turner at the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ.

In conversations on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ radio and television, Annie Mae Bullock, born in Brownsville and brought up in nearby Nutbush, Tennessee, talks about overcoming adversity after starting her musical vocation with Ike Turner, becoming Tina Turner and launching her own hugely successful solo career in London with the help of Craig Marsh and Martyn Ware (from The Human League and Heaven 17).

Tina also discusses her many hit singles including Let’s Stay Together, What’s Love Got To Do With It, Private Dancer (written by Mark Knopfler) and The Best, as well as her work as an actress and Bond theme song performer and her happiness when she married Erwin Bach and retired to Switzerland.

Terry Wogan, Russell Harty, Graham Norton, Steve Wright, Will Gompertz, Roger Scott and Radio 2 producer Mark Hagen have interviewed Tina in depth, over the past few decades, about her life, worldwide popularity and much admired achievements, as well as her incredible talent as a singer and stage performer. This was first witnessed when she was just 20 years old, once involved teaching Mick Jagger how to dance on stage and has since been immortalised in a Hollywood biopic, her own autobiography and a stage musical.
