100 years of the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ in Scotland and celebrating the Jewish holiday Purim. Plus, why do we love horror films, and can watching them help our brains?

Traditions and rituals around funerals and burials are changing. Costs and environmental concerns are inspiring alternatives like green woodland burial sites and other more unusual ways of saying goodbye to our loved ones. So what are some of the things we can consider when planning for our own deaths? Tony is joined by Dr Jennifer Riley, a Research fellow at the University of Aberdeen; and Fiona Rankin who runs Clovery Woods of Rest in Aberdeenshire.

After sunset on Monday, Purim will begin. It’s a Jewish holiday which commemorates a story recounted in the Book of Esther, in the Old Testament. Rabbi Pete Tobias from the Glasgow Reform Synagogue reflects on the significance of the festival and how it's celebrated.

Prayer is central to most religions, but the way that prayer or meditation is practiced can differ greatly. In some faiths it's part of formalised worship while others have a more self-directed approach. Joining Tony to give their perspective on prayers from their faith is Yahya Barry, an academic in Islamic studies; and Fiona Stewart, who is a writer and also runs a Christian arts charity.

Monday marks the 100th anniversary of the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ in Scotland, and of course religious broadcasting has been a part of that history. As well as covering religious services, daily reflections in Thought For The Day and all the major festivals, religious broadcasting has been present at some of the biggest moments in our shared cultural experience. Tony is joined by writer and broadcaster Anna Magnusson and academic Mona Siddiqui, both regular Thought for the Day presenters.

A vibrant mural honouring the remarkable Scottish heroine Kath Duncan has been completed in her hometown of Kirkcaldy. A civil rights campaigner, she became one of the most influential figures of the 20th century. But few people have ever heard of her. Filmmaker and activist Ray Barron-Woolford outlines how he's trying to change that with the help of artist Boudicca Collins – and writer Sara Sheridan describes what she's doing to highlight real women, like Kath, whose stories have remained untold throughout history.

Are horror films a source of delight for you or a total nightmare? Scary films and television shows have a unique hold over us, so what is it that draws some people back for more? And does facing our worst fears have any kind of real life application? Tony is joined by two horror fans, Radio Scotland’s Tech Talk presenter Louis Blain who also has a Scream podcast and psychologist Kirsty Craig-Colquhoun.
