Fallon has a troubling theory, and David feels like the villain.
George helps return logs to the rewilding site and questions Ed on why Rex says he’s feeling guilty. He’s repelled by the answer and rushes to Fallon’s defence when Ed lightly blames her. Protective George then seeks out Fallon. He compliments her on all she is doing, apologises for his family and clumsily attempts to flirt.
Ben reassures his parents that his break from studying was never intended to be a holiday. He plans to focus on training Bess and wants to earn money too. David and Ruth are apprehensive as Ben talks about finding work in residential care. They don’t want him to bite off more than he can chew. He won’t start until he feels up to it and meanwhile he’d like to run the B&B which has been on hold since he’s been unwell. Later, David and Ruth admit to one another they’re not keen on the idea of Ben running around after holidaymakers. Ruth is fiercely defensive when she interprets David as being ashamed of Ben’s recent mental health issues.
Ed tries to boost Will’s confidence over taking part in Lynda’s Christmas Chronicles event. They’re joined by a serious Fallon – she’s certain George has a crush on her. She’s worried he might think she’s encouraging him and doesn’t want to risk any kind of misunderstanding. When she asks for someone to speak to George, both Ed and Will are reluctant to take up the awkward task. Fallon suggests they do it together, adding she knows they’ll set George straight.
