Calm music for stormy weather feat. Arooj Aftab
Ólafur Arnalds seeks the calm inside the storm with a selection of peaceful music inspired by rain, wind and thunder. Plus a stormy Safe Haven from the composer Arooj Aftab.
Join Icelandic composer and pianist Ólafur Arnalds for another hour-long musical journey that seeks to find that elusive feeling of calm.
In this episode, Ólafur puts his head into the clouds to look for the calm within the storm, with a selection of music inspired by rain, wind and thunder. He shares music from Chopin, EydÃs Evensen and Chihei Hatakeyama, and talks about the comforting effect that the sounds of bad weather can have on you when you’re tucked up inside.
Plus the composer Arooj Aftab transports us to her Safe Haven, the place where she feels the most calm, with a recording from a thunderstorm outside her apartment in New York.
