Cockles and Island Sheep

Research on the Burry Inlet reveals the link between cleaner water linked with smaller cockles. And island life - why rare sheep can help the lesser black-backed gulls of Flat Holm.

A warning of a shortage of turkeys this Christmas as the Bird Flu epidemic increases the problems faced by poultry farmers in Wales. Presenter, Caroline Evans visits the Burry Inlet and Loughor Estuary to find out more about a Swansea University study that links better water quality with smaller cockles that have a higher mortality rate. A call to farmers and growers for a trial to produce fertiliser from alder trees and gorse bushes! Dod yn Γ΄l at fy nghoed - the author finding balance in our Welsh woodlands. And the rare sheep off to Flat Holm island to start a new life on the island as conservation grazers.
