Kevin from Bake Off, the next Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, and what drives celebrity egos and how their attitudes can influence others.

The head of Christian Aid Scotland has been named as the next Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland. Rev Sally Foster-Fulton speaks to Tony about taking over the post in such difficult and uncertain times, her journey from South Carolina to Scotland and how she can bring her experience in the charity sector to the job.

Archaeologists in Northern Iraq have unearthed beautiful rock carvings that are nearly 3,000 years old. They were found in Mosul by an excavation team working to reconstruct the ancient Mashki Gate, destroyed by IS militants in 2016. Noorah Al-Gailani, curator of Islamic Civilizations at Glasgow Museums outlines the background to the discovery.

Next week is Dyslexia Awareness Week in Scotland. This year’s theme is Make One Small Change and aims to raise awareness of dyslexia and how small changes can make a big difference. Tony talks to TV critic and broadcaster Scott Bryan about his experience of having dyslexia and also Ailsa Bathgate who specialises in publishing books that make reading more accessible for people with dyslexia.

Robert McNeil was one of the forensic technicians who uncovered physical and scientific evidence of crimes against humanity and genocide in war zones in the Balkans from 1996 to 2002. He joins to Tony to talk about his new book Grave Faces which recounts his work as part of the most extensive forensic investigation in history.

The appointment of Rishi Sunak as Prime Minister marks many firsts: the youngest leader in nearly a century, but more significantly the first from a British South Asian background, and also the first from the Hindu faith. Tony speaks to Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Newsnight’s UK editor Sima Kotech about Sunak’s faith and how the news is being received among Britain’s South Asian communities.

As Halloween approaches, this week’s entry into our 100 Scottish Stories collection is the tale of listener William Firth and the Spooky Tunnel.

US Rapper Kanye West has been a global talking point as he found himself losing brand deals and being banned from social media after making anti-Semitic comments. Tony explores what drives celebrity egos to such lengths and how their attitudes can influence others with entertainment journalist Nicole Lampert and Philip Blackledge, Rector of Holy Trinity in Melrose.

Lanarkshire music teacher Kevin is the latest contestant to leave this year’s Great British Bake Off. He joins Tony to discuss how his love of baking began in church and the role his deep-rooted evangelical faith plays in his life.
