The cocker spaniel of trees, growing community and the waterless pond

David Maxwell presents the weekly gardening programme including; a visit to Islandmagee community garden, a waterless pond and Tony’s tree of the month.

Some enjoy the solitude of gardening alone, for others it’s a social thing and that’s certainly the case at Islandmagee’s Community Garden. In this week’s programme, David Maxwell meets some of those who’ve turned an overlooked corner into a haven for residents and wildlife. Also on the programme, David White chats about β€˜The Queen Elizabeth II Rose’ released in spring 2022 ahead of next week’s state funeral. Ann Fitzsimmons shows David her winter pond which might be waterless in early autumn but is still putting on a good show and Tony Kirkham on the β€œcocker spaniel” of a tree that’s his favourite for September.
