Leaving a Β£200k salary to start a business
Sonya talks to Siddhi Mittal and Heinin Zhang, the founders of yhangry, a private chef platform.
Siddhi Mittal and Heinin Zhang are the names behind the private chef platform yhangry. The pair both left their successful jobs working in sales and trading, where they earned over Β£200k each, to launch their business in 2019. Siddhi and Heinin both loved authentic, home-cooked food but found it impossible to find the time to cook whilst working demanding jobs and so came up with the idea for yhangry.
They used their spare time to develop their idea before pitching their business on the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's Dragons' Den, where they were offered Β£100k for ten per cent of their business, which they declined, but went on to raise Β£1 million for the business!
Sonya finds out what made them leave their careers in finance to become entrepreneurs and how they turned their idea into a successful business. The pair also discuss why their relationship with each other is the most important relationship they have and how they even had relationship therapy to help them work better together!
Sonya also hears from Anushka Patel, the owner of Love Heals, for this week's 60-Second Career. Love Heals sells bespoke crystal jewellery, after her son suggested she should turn her love for crystals into a side hustle!
