The xx’s Romy on vulnerability, emotional club bangers and writing from the heart

Slip into Arlo’s world for an hour of music, thoughts and reflections. Plus, Romy joins to share special songs and stories, from Beverly Glenn-Copeland to Robyn.

Step into Arlo’s inner world for an hour of music and musings on creativity, comfort and inspiration. She’s called it Dream Fuel - a scrapbook in sound of her favourite tracks, poems, personal voice notes, field recordings and special guests.

In the final episode of Dream Fuel, Arlo is joined by one of her musical heroes - Romy Madley Croft. Most known for her work as part of the Mercury-Prize winning band The xx, Romy is a singer, songwriter, producer and DJ. Her debut solo album is due to be released this year, and her recent work has included collaborations with the likes of Fred Again and HAAi.

Romy joins Arlo for a final euphoric Dream Fuel music exchange. The pair swap tracks that bring them joy, from the lyrical inspirations of Cryogeyser and Beverly Glenn Copeland to the emotional club bangers of Sonique and Robyn. They share reflections on the joys of DJing and club community, the songs that have changed them, and leaning into writing the songs that are honest and come directly from the heart, even if it makes you vulnerable - β€œif you come to the show, I do not want you to know how much you hurt me”.

Plus Arlo shares some of the high energy tracks that she’s had on repeat recently, including Aphex Twin, Kelly Lee Owens and Ecco2k, and reflects back on the last year and the musical journey that has been Dream Fuel.

Arlo Parks is a London born singer-songwriter and poet, who came onto the music scene back in 2019. Her debut album, Collapsed in Sunbeams, won the 2021 Mercury Prize, and in the same year she won Best New Artist at the Brit Awards.
