Agus an Bille Féiniúlachta agus Teanga (Tuaisceart Éireann) ag dul faoi bhráid an Choiste inniu i dTeach na dTiarnaí in Westminster, déanaimid an Bille a scagadh i gcomhluadar roinnt saineolaithe ar an cheist: Dr Róisín Áine Costello ó Scoil an Dlí agus Rialtais ag Ollscoil Chathair Bhaile Átha Cliath, Ciarán Mac Giolla Bhéin, Príomhfheidhmeannach ar Comhairle na Gaelscolaíochta agus duine atá lárnach i bhfeachtasaíocht an Dream Dearg le fada an lá; agus Dr Frank Ferguson ó Ollscoil Uladh, a raibh ról aige ar an Painéal Comhairleach Saineolaithe maidir le stráitéis don Ultais. Labhraíonn muid fosta le Rónán Ó Domhnaill, an Coimisinéar Teanga ó dheas, a d’fhoilsigh a thuarascáil bhliaintiúil an tseachtain seo caite.
As the Identity and Language (Northern Ireland) Bill reaches Committee stage at the House of Lords today, we assemble a panel of experts to discuss the ins and outs of the proposed legislation, including Dr Róisín Áine Costello of the School of Law and Government at Dublin City University, Ciarán Mac Giolla Bhéin, An Dream Dearg campaigner and Chief Executive of Comhairle na Gaelscolaíochta and Dr Frank Ferguson, Director of the Centre for Irish and Scottish Studies at the University of Ulster, who was also a member of the Expert Advisory Panel on Recommendations for an Ulster-Scots Language, Heritage & Culture Strategy. We also hear from Rónán Ó Domhnaill, the Irish Language Commissioner south of the border, who published his annual report just last week.
