A service led by the Revd Sue Phillips, minister of Elim Baptist church in Pontllanfraith, in Caerphilly Borough.
This Sunday comes between two important religious festivals; it's a ten day period of anticipation and waiting. Ascension Day was on Thursday when the disciples witnessed Jesus Christ's ascension into heaven, and the Day of Pentecost (or Whit Sunday) is next Sunday - when the apostles received the gift of the Holy Spirit. In this service Sue Phillips considers the concept of waiting and anticipation - something that can be challenging especially when it comes to waiting for example, for the results of an exam or tests.
Readings are taken from Luke 24: v 44 - 53 and Revelation 22: 12-14, 1-18 and 20 -22.
Hymns and songs include "Hail the day that sees him rise" (tune Llanfair), "Beautiful One" (Tim Hughes), "Be thou my vision" and "Lord for the years".
