Seonaid Aitken celebrates Scotland’s exciting jazz scene which has seen emerging talent perform at some of the most prestigious music festivals & concert halls in the UK & beyond.

Seonaid Aitken celebrates Scotland’s exciting jazz scene which has seen emerging talent perform at some of the most prestigious music festivals and concert halls in the UK and further afield. Many have also signed big recording contracts and picked up some of the biggest awards and titles in the industry. A case in point is pianist Fergus McCreadie, who has been appointed the latest Â鶹ԼÅÄ Radio 3 New Generation Jazz Artist, signed a deal with Edition Records and has had concert dates at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, Cheltenham Jazz and Love Supreme.

Alongside Fergus we hear music from Corto Alto, Georgia Cecile, Rebecca Vasmant, Graham Costello’s Strata and the Nimbus Sextet. We also hear music from some of Scotland’s exciting young orchestras (NYOS Jazz , Tommy Smith’s Youth Jazz Orchestra, Fife Youth Jazz Orchestra) as well as celebrating some of Scotland’s more established jazz artists. Plus pianist Richard Michael salutes one of Scotland best loved saxophonists, Joe Temperley performing Duke Ellington’s Cottontail as part of tonight’s Song Book
