Allysha Joy on the Melbourne Jazz Scene

Singer and producer Allysha Joy introduces the Melbourne jazz scene and selects tracks from her favourite local acts.

Jamie’s guest this week is the Australian singer and songwriter Allysha Joy!

Allysha has been working out of the Melbourne jazz scene for years – whether as part of the group 30/70, in collaboration with a range of local producers, or as a solo artist. She has just released her second album ‘Torn : Tonic’. Her new record looks at the world’s big issues whilst also being deeply personal – it is the first body of work entirely produced by Allysha herself.

Allysha talks about how closeness to nature and the pace of life affects music made in her home city, picks three local acts you should get to know and introduces a track from ‘Torn : Tonic’.

Plus, Jamie picks some (loosely!) environment themed jazz to celebrate Radio 2’s planet-friendly ‘Go Green’ week.
