11/04/22 - Women in ag, flytipping and new entrants

The Liverpool Agricultural Discussion Society has voted to retain a ban on female members and guests.

The Liverpool Agricultural Discussion Society - also known as LADS - was formed in 1928 and women are not allowed to be members or to attend meetings as guests, though they can attend as invited speakers. Last week these rules were challenged by some members but the majority decided to retain the men only status.

Fly tipping costs councils Β£392 million a year in England. The Government is announcing a β€˜crackdown’ including Β£450,000 for council grants for β€˜trial projects’ like installing CCTV in hotspot areas and a change in the rules so households don’t pay to dispose of DIY waste. But the CLA says it's not enough.
