The Painted Hall

Hugh Bonneville and Jane Asher star in a drama about the Painted Hall at the Old Royal Naval College, Greenwich - a masterpiece contrived by James Thornhill with help from Hogarth.

The Painted Hall, one of the most spectacular baroque interiors in Europe and one of the largest β€˜paintings' in the world, was conceived and created by the artist James Thornhill between 1707 and 1726.
Over twenty years, he adapted his evolving design to reflect changes in royal succession, science and navigation. He was later asked to write a guide to explain what it all meant.
Meanwhile, his only daughter fell in love with a lowly paint-mixer: William Hogarth...
