Fergus McCreadie Take 5
Jamie is joined this week by the Scottish pianist and composer Fergus McCreadie for a Take 5 interview.
Jamie’s guest is the pianist and composer Fergus McCreadie, who joins him for a Take 5 interview.
Growing up in the countryside between Glasgow and Edinburgh, nature and the Scottish landscape has also been an important inspiration for Fergus. Whilst his last album ‘Cairn’ channeled the drama of mountains and gorges into his writing – his new record, ‘Forest Floor’, reflects the earthy woodland landscape near his parents’ home where he spent lockdown.
Already the recipient of prizes at the Parliamentary and Scottish Jazz Awards, Fergus will be touring the UK and Europe with his trio in the coming months.
He talks about falling in love with Oscar Peterson’s piano playing early on, catching Pat Metheny in concert by chance and the other modern artists he’s enjoying right now.
