PopMaster and Stevie Van Zandt
Stevie Van Zandt - musician best known as a member of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band - chooses the Tracks of My Years. There's the daily love song plus more from PopMaster.
Stevie Van Zandt - singer-songwriter, author, actor and member of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band - chooses the Tracks of My Years all week with Ken. Born in Winthrop, Massachusetts, Stevie is also known for his roles in several television drama series, including as Silvio Dante in 'The Sopranos' and as Frank Tagliano in 'Lilyhammer. Stevie has his own solo band called Little Steven and The Disciples of Soul, intermittently active since the 1980s. In 2014 he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the E Street Band. He's produced music, written songs and had his own songs covered by Bruce, Meat Loaf, Nancy Sinatra and Pearl Jam among many others.
Last year Stevie published his memoir 'Unrequited Infatuations' which chronicles the twists and turns of his always surprising life. In it he describes how he traded his devotion to the Baptist religion for an obsession with Rock and Roll to meeting The Boss, a like-minded outcast who became one of his most important friends and bandmates.
The next two tracks Stevie has chosen come from The Jeff Beck Group and The Jimi Hendrix Experience. There's the daily love song, record and album of the week plus another round of PopMaster. If you'd like to get in touch with the show email Ken.Bruce@bbc..co.uk
