Totally Trad
Gary West explores that category of pipe tunes we simply call Trad, with examples from Scotland, Ireland, Northumbria and the USA, as well as some piping exotica from Sardinia.
Gary West introduces a playlist that relies entirely on that mainstay of the bagpipe repertoire, those tunes labelled simply as 'trad', with sets from Ross Ainslie and Jarlath Henderson, Finlay Johnston, Donald MacPhee, Malcolm Robertson and Minnesota-based Northumbrian piper Dick Hensold. The Field Marshall Montgomery demonstrate how the best bands in the world deal with tradition, while West Highland ceilidh experts, Skipinnish, put us through our paces on the dance floor. There's an all-star cast of a dozen of the world's elite level pipers and drummers recorded together in Washington State, and a little bit of Mediterranean piping exotica from Sardinia.
