Flo Perlin session, Norma Waterson tribute, and 21st Century Folk

The best folk music. Mark pays tribute to the late Norma Waterson, upcoming London-based songwriter Flo Perlin sings live, and there's news about 21st Century Folk.

The best folk and acoustic music from Britain and beyond.

This week, there's a focus on songs about real people, as Mark shares details of Radio 2's 21st Century Folk, in which five listeners from the North East of England will have songs written about their lives.

We pay tribute to the late Norma Waterson, who has died at the age of 82. With The Watersons, Waterson:Carthy and in the Gift Band with her daughter Eliza Carthy, Norma will be remembered as one of the great folk voices of her time.

Flo Perlin sings live. Flo, whose inspirations include her Jewish Iraqi and Belarusian heritage, released her second album, Characters, in 2021.
