Crime and Punishment, North Pole and Steinbeck

Crime and Punishment in Carrickfergus, the Derry Doctor who went to the North Pole, and a festival celebrating Steinbeck’s link to Ballykelly.

A new exhibition with fearsome objects including manacles, leg irons and locks is coming to Carrickfergus. We hear the remarkable story of the Derry doctor, James Archibald McIlroy, who travelled with Shackleton to the North Pole; and did you know that John Steinbeck’s roots were in County Derry?

Also on the programme: Anne Marie talks to Viscount Brookeborough about the Queen’s accession to the throne 70 years ago, and a tenor in County Fermanagh releases his debut album.

Presented by Anne Marie McAleese.
