Jamie is joined on the show this week by the Grammy award-nominated, Brooklyn-based Pakistani vocalist Arooj Aftab for a Take 5 interview.
Jamie’s guest on the show this week is the vocalist, composer and producer Arooj Aftab, who joins him for a Take 5 interview.
A fixture of the New York music scene for over a decade, the Pakistani vocalist recently released her third studio album – Vulture Prince – which features Arooj’s unique blend of jazz, electronic music and Sufi influences. The record has been very well received, and has earned her two nominations at this year’s Grammy Awards.
Arooj talks about the early impact of Eva Cassidy on her singing, watching Esperanza Spalding compose live and the big ideas behind Vulture Prince.
