Seonaid Aitken with a bumper festive edition of Jazz Nights. Special session guests are hi-energy Glasgow based outfit Nimbus Sextet who have recently signed to the renowned Acid Jazz label. Plus Richard Michael opens another chapter of his Song Book, this week looking at the Thad Jones composition A Child Is Born, including a duet with Seonaid. We also hear from rock icon Patti Smith, who turns 75 this month, introducing one of her all-time favourite jazz recordings, John Coltrane’s Alabama. Plus we join former MasterChef finalist and recent Scottish Jazz Awards winner Laura Macdonald from her jazz kitchen where she shares her recipe for a non-alcoholic mulled plum & apple beverage to keep the festive spirit going.
