Richard Holloway

Edi talks to the former Bishop of Edinburgh and Primus of the Scottish Episcopal Church about family life and his early resolve to be an Anglican priest.

In this deeply fascinating programme, Richard talks about how his early resolve to be an Anglican priest began with his love for the movies and longing for heroism. He describes growing up with his family in Vale of Leven, moving to a monastic setting in the Midlands, and working in Accra before returning to Scotland to work in the Gorbals. He talks movingly about his first love for a fellow novice monk, meeting and marrying his wife Jean, having family and their chaotic but enriching life at Old St Paul’s in Edinburgh. He also talks about giving up his role as Bishop of Edinburgh and Primus of the Scottish Episcopal Church.
