A spiritual comment and prayer to begin the day with Jaspreet Kaur
A spiritual comment and prayer to begin the day with Jaspreet Kaur
Good morning.
I was in the car the other day, listening to the radio, and I had a little flashback to 2005 when a song that teenage Jaspreet used to love burst from the speakers. It was Bobby Valentinoβs βSlow Down.β When I got home, I wanted to play the song again, and after typing in βslow downβ online, almost a thousand other songs showed up!
Why is it that so many songs have this same message? In the chaotic existence that is the twenty-first century, is it that there are too many things competing for our attention that all these singers and songwriters are all agreed what we need to do β slow down!
The exhaustion of constant busyness is real. Sometimes I feel like Iβm moving at 100mph, and it takes a while for my brain to catch up!
Guru Amar Das Ji, the third Sikh Guru, said, βInvolved in worldly affairs, he wastes his life in vain; the peace-giving Lord does not come to abide in his mind.β
I spent most of my teenage years rushing to grow up. Now, the irony is that Iβm starting to feel an urgency to pause. To reflect. To slow down.
Dear God, help us give ourselves permission to be still, to find peace in that stillness, and to slow down so that we can take that time to turn inwards.
Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh β βpraise to Godβ
