Oliver’s kindness knows no bounds, and Lillian takes a bow.

The venue booked for Eddie and Clarrie’s vows renewal has gone bust, and Oliver feels sorry for them. He’d like to offer them a Grey Gables meeting room. Roy’s not keen. The whole Grundy family in the bar might be less than ideal; they have form. Oliver assures Roy he would stipulate no ferrets allowed.
Lynda shares with Lilian her concerns at having no God and no Judas. Lilian thinks the plan for Kirsty to persuade Oliver to cancel Roy’s leave is devious. But Lynda stresses she’s desperate. Kirsty begins her campaign to get Roy reinstated on the New Year rota, but Oliver’s bemused by Kirsty’s sudden in interest in the rotas. She concedes defeat and comes clean about Lynda’s mission to keep her Judas in the village. Oliver remains immovable; he refuses to interfere with the rota, or risk upsetting Roy’s holiday plans. Kirsty imparts the bad news to Lynda, who’s rather distractedly practising her investiture curtsy with Lilian. Meanwhile Oliver’s juggling a covert phone call to Mike Tucker with his offer of a venue to Eddie. Before he knows it Eddie’s converted the offer of a small meeting room to use of the large ballroom – which he’d love to accept!
Later Roy informs a delighted Lynda that there’s been a change of plan; the Birmingham Tuckers are coming to Ambridge for the New Year, having secured a fantastic accommodation deal at Grey Gables. Lynda’s ecstatic, but wonders why Mike and his family had such a sudden change of heart.
