Let’s discuss taking the knee & eco-friendly sex
Pria and guests discuss the controversy over South African cricketer Quinton de Kock and taking the knee at the T20 World Cup. We also discuss how sex can become more eco-friendly.
Pria and guests Firdose Moonda from ESPNcricinfo, Arun Kang from race equality charity Sporting Equals and Sanjay Bhandari from Kick it Out, discuss the controversy around South African cricketer Quinton de Kock and taking the knee at the T20 World Cup. Some South Africa players - but not all - took a knee before the defeat by Australia in their T20 World Cup opener. Cricket South Africa (CSA) then issued an instruction shortly before the second match against the West Indies that all players should take a knee. De Kock made himself unavailable for the game but has since apologised.
After that, Pria is joined Meera Narendra, writer for women’s magazine gal-dem, Makinder Chahal who works promoting sexual health and Vihan Patel founder & CEO of the dating app 'Power of Music' to talk about eco-friendly sex. The UN Population Fund estimates around 10 billion condoms are manufactured each year and most end up in landfills. It's because most condoms are made from synthetic latex and use additives and chemicals, meaning they can't be recycled. As people look to lower their carbon footprint, web searches for sustainable products such as vegan condoms and waste-free contraception have been steadily on the rise in recent years.
