Saint Etienne

Mark presents a feast of great music for breakfast and chats to dance-pop trio Saint Etienne about their latest album.

Mark Radcliffe presents solo, with a feast of great music and chat for weekend breakfast

Today’s guests are Sarah Cracknell, Pete Wiggs and Bob Stanley of London-based dance-pop trio Saint Etienne. Thirty years on from their breakthrough debut album β€˜Foxbase Alpha’ which included the hit single β€˜Only Love Can Break Your Heart’, the band have released their tenth studio album. Titled β€˜I’ve Been Trying To Tell You,’ the new record was made mostly from samples and sounds drawn from the years 1997-2001. The album also has an accompanying film directed by acclaimed photographer and film-make Alasdair McLellan.

Also on the show, catch up on the best music and entertainment stories of the past week in β€˜This Week In Music’ with Clare Crane.

Plus... regular features 'The Chain' - our world-famous list of over 8000 interconnected songs - and 'Sampled Underfoot' which explores the samples used in some of our favourite tracks.

With a selection of music old and new to get the weekend started.
