Jackie Bird presents Reporting Scotland for the first time as John Craven steps down from Newsround. It’s also the year Maurice Johnston switches sides and signs for Rangers after agreeing a deal with Celtic. Andy Stewart returns to the charts with Donald Where’s Yer Troosers, and Desmond’s first appears on Channel Four. The Proclaimers score another hit with I’m On My Way, and the Berlin Wall comes down as the decade comes to an end.
