Episode 7
Could native beavers be at the park for the first time since before Longleat House was built? And if so, why would they choose a lake populated by sea lions and hippos?
Thereβs a mystery arrival at the park who is changing the landscape in Wiltshire. There are tell-tale signs by the lake: felled trees, gnawed branches and changed waterways. The keepers have their suspicions about what may have caused this, so have set up hidden camera traps to try to solve the mystery. Could native beavers really be back at the park for the first time in 500 years? And if they are, will they be welcomed at a lake populated by sea lions and hippos?
Elsewhere, we check in with the fennec foxes. For the past year, Jean Johansson and the keepers have been playing cupid in the hope that love would blossom between Anthony and Zuri. Now itβs mating season, and the keepers have installed a nest box to give them a crucial window into the lives of these secretive animals. What will the footage reveal, and will there finally be fennec fox babies at the park?
Also, the keepers test Jeanβs knowledge of animal poo as she finds out why knowing the difference is so important.
