Karate continues at Tokyo as the sport climbing awards medals and the basketball reaches the semi-final stages.
Karate was featuring at the Tokyo games with the kumite and kata taking centre stage. The former sees two competitions compete at the same time, against one another. Kata sees competitors drawn against one another but perform their skilled routine solo, they are then marked by judges.
The final of the men's combined takes place with competitors still aiming to reach the top hold in the lead. The competition is bound to be close but look out for Jakob Schubert of Austria and Alberto GinΓ©s LΓ³pez of Spain. Made up of bouldering, lead and speed, the combined gold would test the all-around skills of the athletes across events based on speed, precision and skill. The event has captured the minds of many viewers and has become a favourite of these Olympics.
France and Slovenia meet in their men's basketball semi-final, with the winners going on to play the reigning champions, the US, in the gold medal match. France were able to upset the mighty US in the pool stages and will be favourites in this match. Should Slovenia lose, they will face world number two side Australia for the bronze.
