The business of space is taking off. The global space industry is expected to generate revenue of $1.1 trillion or more in 2040. Billionaire entrepreneurs Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk and Richard Branson are each vying to usher in a new era of private commercial space travel spanning tourism, communications satellites and research. But it's not just the super-rich who are eyeing the commercial potential of space. Worldwide, governments are still the main investors in space activities. Global government space budgets hit nearly $40 billion in 2020 and 80 countries now have space programs. On Talking Business Weekly, we discuss the commercialization of space with the boss of Virgin Orbit Dan Hart and Jane Poynter, the co-founder of space tourism firm Space Perspective.
